Builder of private residential and rental properties, Blackburn Communities expanded into the Austin market in 2006 from Mississippi and has plans to move into Florida in the coming months.

“We look forward to continued growth in the Austin area with two new communities that  came on board at the beginning of 2017,” says Chris Wales, vice president of sales and marketing for Blackburn Communities. “Tapping into other stable markets is always an option, and we are looking at some new opportunities in Tampa, Florida, that we look forward to sharing more about soon.”

Both of the company’s current communities are in Round Rock and adjacent to major parks. Diamond Oaks is located on the east side of Round Rock next to the Dell Diamond Stadium and Old Settler’s Park. “This area is really booming!” Wales says. “Homeowners at Diamond Oaks love being within walking distance to a baseball game, entertainment and tons of recreational activities available at the park, such as fishing, biking, swimming and tennis to name only a few.” 

The company’s other community is Gardens at Mayfield, which is located on the west side of Round Rock next to the Williamson County Regional Park and boasts large monarch trees and a unique feel. “We wanted this gated community to feel like it was tucked away even though shopping, dining and entertainment is so close by,” Wales says. “Our homeowners feel privileged to live next to one of the area’s largest parks.”

“Our strategy is simple. When designing a community and choosing a location, we focus on our motto: Our communities are close to everything, but far from ordinary,” Wales says.

As a semi-custom homebuilder, Blackburn Communities strives to offer a variety of home buying and customization opportunities. “While most of our customers like to build from the ground-up, we understand the needs of a growing area,” Wales says. “Each community usually has a handful of homes that can be moved into quickly.”

For buyers interested in building their dream home, Wales says that all floorplans are fully customizable and designed with today’s buyer in mind. “While other builders say, ‘No,’ we like to say, ‘Yes,’” says Wales. “This means that walls can be moved, windows can be added and kitchens can be redesigned. You name it and we can do it.”

Blackburn Communities’ homes all include open concept floorplans with luxurious features that other builders consider upgrades. “Our living rooms are both versatile and functional, while our kitchens include an abundance of storage and countertop space. Both of our communities include 10-foot ceilings, 8-foot doors, granite countertops, gourmet kitchens and a solar-ready design.” Wales says. “The stone exteriors of our homes are sophisticated and modern. We wanted to ensure that our customers love the outside of their home as much as they like the inside.”
